Ambler, PA
The founding of the Wissahickon Watershed Association in 1957 grew out of the collective concern of area residents whose goal was to protect the land in the Watershed from the devastating effects of floods from the Wissahickon Creek. They recognized the inseparable link of land and water and adopted the protection of these natural resources as the organization’s key mission.
Today, over 1,200 acres of protected land and 21 miles of natural wooded trails are available to the public for year-round enjoyment. This Green Ribbon of walking trails begins near the headwaters in North Wales and meanders along the Wissahickon connecting with Fairmount Park's Forbidden Drive, until the confluence of the Creek with the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.
WVWA has been a great friend of the Ambler Area Running Club and has partnered with us for numerous events. The Upper Gwynedd section of the Green Ribbon Trail is used extensively by AARC's Tuesday night Fun Run from the North Wales Running Company.
